Serranía de Minas Fauna and Flora Sanctuary

Serranía de Minas Fauna and Flora Sanctuary located near the Purace National Park in the Department of Huila, the Serranía de Minas is part of the fluvial star of Magdalena, where most of the Magdalena river affluents are born.

La Serranía de Minas is located within the Cordillera Central mountain range of the Andes, within the municipalities of Saladoblanco, Oporapa, Tarqui, la Plata, El Pital y La Argentina covering an area of approximately 1,000 square kilometres (390 sq mi). The mountainous ecosystem extends from the municipality of Saladoblanco towards the northeast covering the municipalities of La Argentina, Oporapa, Tarqui, Pital, La Plata and ending at the municipality of El Agrado. The highest mountain peaks can reach up to 2600 m over sea level.[1]
